In August of 2023, my friend and business partner Abid and I embarked on an unforgettable journey to Bhadohi, India—a trip that deepened our connection to the craftsmanship behind the handmade rugs we proudly offer at Terracotta Clover. This experience was not just about sourcing high-quality rugs; it was about immersing ourselves in the rich culture and stories of the people who make these exceptional pieces, furthering our mission to create custom, one-of-a-kind rugs for our clients.

We based ourselves in Varanasi, a city as vibrant and spiritual as the rugs we design. Each day, we travelled to Bhadohi, known as the "Carpet City of India," where we met with our manufacturers and artisans. It was an enlightening experience—seeing firsthand the meticulous craftsmanship, dedication, and artistry that goes into every rug.

What made this journey even more special was the time we spent getting to know the people behind the craft. We learned not just about weaving techniques but also about their life stories, traditions, and how rug-making has been passed down through generations. Their attention to detail and pride in their work reinforced our commitment to offering rugs that reflect true artistry and authenticity.

While our main focus was on work, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to experience Varanasi's spiritual and cultural heartbeat. One of the most memorable moments was visiting the Ganges River. The walk to the river was a kaleidoscope of sound, color, and energy—a humbling experience that left a lasting impression on both of us. We also had the chance to meet some incredible people along the way, each with their own unique stories, enriching our journey and inspiring us further.
